Hi, this is the filthy American here again! I'm expanding past the dead people's side of respect and talking about people just treating each other well. This is not just gonna be US politics, this is not limited to my political opponents. This post will be my opinion on what SHOULD be the way we handle differing opinions, opposing parties, and ideologies, and what is appropriate. This is not what is legal, or typical standards of behaviour. This is what I think SHOULD be normal and/or expected within politics, and also with just daily life.

Hi, this is the filthy American here again! This topic came about to me when the Queen died. Now I don't follow UK politics much if any, but we all know who the queen is to some degree, and a major world leader dying gets some attention, even in the US. While reading about this story, I ran into much discussion of people who were mourning versus people who thought mourning was not necessary given the history of imperialism and the British Empire.

Historical Shame and Priorities

It's me again, filthy American come to spew my opinions on the world where many countries are already far more progressive than my own. But here goes anyway. Today we will talk about a period in time, a horrid one. Marginalized groups were shunned openly by members of the ruling and upper class. Propaganda was everywhere, encouraging everyone to forgo critical thinking in favour of what the elite deemed important. Books with anything but the 'correct' ideology were dealt with accordingly. Independent thought was rebuked, considered conspiratorial, evil, and made the enemy of all.

Yes, I know, the main blog is from the UK and I'm a no-good redneck trying to interject in political discourse, how dare I? Well, I find that the people in the worst crap tend to be best at describing the smell. And boy am I surrounded by... well I'll try to keep it civil at least. This will be my intro post to this blog and more of an overview of how I see this topic overall. We'll get into the nitty-gritty later.
