All About Keir Starmer

He is a father, a dutiful husband, and a former lawyer. Well, Starmer exceeded all of this as soon as he became the leader of the Labour Party of Great Britain. He spent his whole life fighting on behalf of ordinary people, seeking fairness for them by being a lawyer.

His passion, his work ethic, and his strength made him what he is today; leader of the biggest party in Britain! His aim has always been to make this world a better place to live and he has always worked hard by fighting against the powerful to get justice for the ordinary. It was his drive that first made him stand as an MP and then helped him become the leader of the Labour Party.

Keir became a barrister in 1987 and as soon as he got his qualifications as a lawyer, he never stopped giving free legal advice to ordinary people who needed help. He also fought some immensely high-profile cases like the fight against the odds with McDonald's and Shell and also with the National Union of Mineworkers to stop the pit closures of Tories.

Keir was appointed Director of Public Prosecution in 2008. He was assigned in charge of the Crown Prosecution Service and its enormous workforce. This time also, he accepted the position out of his desire to help his country and make it a safer place for ordinary people.

Keir's work as Chief Prosecutor was driven by his strong sense of justice and willingness to speak up for individuals who needed to be heard. He provided services for victims of sexual and domestic abuse, helped bring Stephen Lawrence's killers to justice, and brought charges against MPs who misused their expense accounts.

Moving forward, Keir entered politics as a result of his desire to create a more egalitarian world. At 52 years old, he was first elected to Parliament in 2015. Later on, he was appointed as the Shadow Secretary of State by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn on October 6, 2016. It was on April 4th, 2020, when Starmer was elected as the leader of the Labour party and it turned out to be a clean win for him. He won only in the first round of voting with about more than 50% of the ballot cast.

Keir Starmer shared his feelings on this day saying that it was a great honour and a huge privilege in his life. His aim and goals still remained the same as he said he’ll strive for the betterment of our country by guiding all the communities through thick and then! Well, Kudos to Starmer. This is how a true leader must be!

It is not only Starmer’s goal but the goal of the Labour Party to make Britain a better, brighter and more secure country for all people. To raise up the lowest echelons of the people, to give all people a comfortable life, education, decent healthcare and comfortable, warm homes.
